Sounds are finally being introduced into the game, which is a lot more exciting to me than probably anyone else.
My Strange Addiction
When I played Animal Crossing, I used to run around barefoot all the time because I liked the sound it made when I walked on stone. I went barefoot in Animal Crossing too.
What are my top favourite UI sounds? Thanks for asking.

Especially that last one. Click, ping… click, ping…
Anyway, I try my best to choose sounds like those for the game. Here’s what the menu sounds like right now:
What do you think? Good? Bad? You don’t care?
Dialogue System
A few weeks ago, I followed a tutorial by a famous youtuber that made my dialogue system functional, but I wasn’t fully satisfied with the structure of it. Each conversation had to be stored on an object in the game, which made it troublesome to edit them. This week, I thought I would put all the dialogue in a text file and rebuild the system myself, which turned out not to be the best idea given my lack of knowing how to do that. Instead, I came across this language called ink that lets me store dialogue in neat little files. So the data went from looking like this:
…to this:
I saw someone on Reddit say that coding is like LEGO. Having the end product is nice, but building it is most of the fun. My LEGO thing doesn’t really look like much now but it’s nice to know it’s structurally sound.
I do like the sounds!!!! Very nice, I have no idea how to describe the feeling but it makes happy noises in my brain,, it somehow fits the simplistic style of the title screen too :D
Yay! You get it! The clicks!!
The start screen will change eventually, but I’m enjoying the calming blue while it’s here
Wow super cool! Love the sounds 😎
Thanks!
Wow, now I know how hard it is to make sounds and dialogue…
Haha right? You don’t really think about it what you see it in other games but it actually takes a lot of effort!
rlly cool sounds i must say
